century or pen??????

thinking bout buying a new shore rod. not certain what. looking for one with a bit of back bone but sensitive tip. possibly looking at one of the century carbon metals or possibly one of the new penns. any body had much success wit them. mainly gonin for clean to mod rough distance fishing

I don't know where you are living but Belfast Angling Supplies and presumably his other shop in Bangor have a new supply of Conoflex rods in. A friend said Harry has a Nemesis SLR and Nemesis Plus SLR in his Bangor shop (McKee's Tackle), along with an older rod called the Red Label Oblivion. I hope I got that right. All are top quality rods.

I didn't get prices for them though.

I have owned a Carbon Metal for the last 2 yrs and love it....

I find it casts well, is very sensitive to bites and the thin blank is great. I generally fish this rod when fishing over clean ground when there is no amount of weed around (although it does handle weed fairly well).For me with a pennell rig clipped down i hit about 130yds . I thnk this rod has more backbone than some people give it credit for. I have hauled 10lb conger out of their lairs with ease with it. A good clean to mixed ground rod in my opinion.

For the heavier ground, IE.. weed and snags etc..I tend to fish with the Kompressor... although i cant cast this near as well. wimp.. lol..
This rod has got serious hauling power.. U wouldn't believe the amounts of weed it has pulled in.

I tried a Tip Tornado sport out recently and I think this is somewhere between the two above rods.

is the Kompressor heavy??

i would definately look at the tip tornado sport one of the best rods i have ever had and can handle most ground.good bite detection and got plenty of power for distance work.all in all a very good all round rod .i have heard it said the carbon metal is better than the carbon metal express but i think the tip tornado sport is better than both.or if you can afford it go for the zziplex dymic lt14 one of the best rods ever made.

have a nemises already, great rough ground rod, bit heavy tho.

if you like century's splash out on a tip tornado super match, speaking to guys who have used them for a while say that they have all the qualities which you are lookin for.

ya been looking at them the last couple of weeks. like the carbon metal's tho classy looking rods and apparently casts like a demon with the reel down the butt. what bsort of money you talkin about for the kompressors

once you go past the carbom metals and the like you should expect to pay around £300 for the majority of the tiptornados or kompressors

Hi, if you are looking for to purchase the cream then I would suggest either the Kompressor sport for casting weights to 7+oz's's. If you are looking for something slightly lighter then the new Tip tornado supermatch is hard to beat casting 4 - 6oz's and both cast a fantastic distance. I have 1 of each for sale at present looking at approx £200 each for them. New, they are over £300. Sport has been use 5 times and the super match 3, both are in new condition. I have 2 zziplex rods that I use all the time thus the century's are surplus to requirements. Do you know of any one looking for the cream of rods at very good prices?

mb3......... I wouldn't think the Kompressor is heavy as such........ but it is slightly heavier than my Carbon Metal though............


I def' prefer my cm....
