South Wexford shore fishing

Wed Nov 07, 2012 2:27 pm

Hello,

I am traveling down to the Hook peninsula in Wexford again this weekend. I have fished here a few times but to no avail (1 tiny coalie & 1 flounder). I will be taking a youngster out with me and would love for him to catch a fish. I would really appreciate any advice on where to fish in the area, since I have had such bad luck shore fishing in Wexford. I can assure that I am a firm believer of catch and release. Just looking for a photo with the young lad and his catch!

the winds have been southerly or westerly so most of the south facing beached could have weed around.. you could try some of the piers around duncannon or the surrounding estuaries

thy duncannon harbour , their is always fish their .
if the tide is rising fish the end of the peir , if it is falling fish inside the harbour.
inside the harbour is where the local clubs fish their juniors, their is always flounders their

Thanks lads! Really appreciate the advice! We tried the piers for a little while but it was very, very slow, only caught 1 small flounder, then went to the beach and had better luck there, the young fella loved it! Im surprised there are fish anywhere near the harbours when you see the amount of trawlers emptying the ocean there.
