Was just wondering do any of you use E-Bay to pick up sea fishing gear? have you ever got any good bargains from it?
Over christmas and the new year, i'll be rebuilding my tackle stock for next year..
Things like Rigs, there's plenty of results in the search anyway, let me know if there is any real decent deals about as i might well be using this website soon enough.
Cheers,
Noel.

ebay can be good
try to approach a tackle dealer about buying your rigmaking accessories in bulk and should still work out cheap, eg 1000 crimps, 1000 beads etc

If you want to buy in bulk try uk-hooks.co.uk ,very cheap and not bad quality .

beads, crimps and swivels can be got very cheap if bought in bulk.the likes of beads, some dealers will let you pick a range of colours and the will mix them for you.
just beware of cheap hooks.i have bought several different hooks and unless you buy a brand name,i find they are not as good or as sharp-but they can be very cheap..

Theres a guy called Johney robbo on E-Bay sells rig making equipment. beads, swivils, hooks, crimps e.t.c very cheap and reliable.

I get all my rig making gear from Johnny Robbo too. Throws in the odd freebie as well. Good stuff and well priced.

livid, if you want bulk stuff at good prices from a shop 'locally' , try l+g tackle, glenoe, larne.
building your own rigs will always work out cheaper than buying them ready made.

Yeah mate, i'm sure that'd be the case alright, to be honest with you, i've only ever made one sea rig and that was a month or so ago, i'm only learning these things but the rig i made has caught fish so i must have done something right, should probably go down that route and make my own stuff, i'm sure K2 will help me out as he makes his own.

yeah and if you get together with a couple of others and buy bulk and split it out it will be cheaper for you and you ll probably have enough rigs from it to do you a few months.

I've got some bits n bobs off ebay (if you call 1000 jellyworms "bits n bobs" ) but I mainly used it to get reels: ABU 7000s, Morrums, TLD5s, an Avet SX.......
Can be addictive, ebay! :D

I would say make a list and get it all in one I was bored a few weekends ago and bought off a few different places. I am going down to the post office a couple of times a week to pick up packages.

. As some one before me said buy brand names if you can that way you know the quality of the merchandise you are buying.
if buying a rod make sure they have the handles fitted (again

) they are 2 fine rods though
If buying something expensive check how long the shop has been running and its feedback. ripoff artists change their shops frequently to hide bad feedback.
rigs? I do not know, unless you find a person who has been recommended buy small quantities as a test. I got caught badly there as well.
I now have more beads than I will ever need
I have got a cheap fixed spool reel, a wide arbor Fly reel, 2 good bait casters, and a very nice fly rod in the last couple of months. so have a go.

Livid,
If you go to my personal gallery there are some diagrams of simple rigs that will get you started. All the components are held inplace by crimps.
Tying your own rigs is good fun but you can end up with some monstrosities when your experimenting. Most of the time simple is best,
Good Luck,
Chris Mc
