does anyone ever do much winter shore fishing in the area of south down from the shore?its just that i never notice many reports from down apart from ards peninsula etc. newcastle , kilkeel ,carlingford direction?surely there are plenty of fish holding areas or is it just that these places are not as regularly fished?

Hi Phil

Only ever fished at newcastle and kilkeel a few times over the winter and blanked on both occasions,, fished cooley penninsula twice on the other side of carlingford and blanked as well .

i fished carlingford a few times from a boat i honestly thing that i would have caught more at the local swimming pool - at least there there is a chance of crabs!

Hello there,

I regularly fish Carlingford lough. Mostly with plug and fly for bass and I do really well. Best bass this year was 8 1/2lb!
