Starting to get adventerous there pooks  benbane head is a long old hike and hard work to get to ,hope you got some good climbing ropes ,we'd normally fish it in a boat about 50m out, loads of pollack but very snaggy with some high pinnicales of rock ,perfect pollack country . tried the shore once bit further west than great stookan ,didn't get much a few small wrasse etc. but that could have been a bad day .
Take a walk along the cliff top path from the giants causeway and you'll see loads of fishy looking spots ,its just a nightmare getting to them from the shore .

portbalintrae is easy to get to and its clean ground,i used to watch people fish it when i was a kid, they caught plaice, wrasse, pollack and the likes.not sure what its like these days or how it fishes this time of year but make sure its a calm day

stoojkan can be very hairy aswell you need to watch the sea as you can be cut of at this mark ,i would only fish it in daylight and be prepared to loss some gear.

portballintrae is a nice venue for a summer day, plaice, coalies, pollack ,gurnard and dogs. not a lot of fish mind you i havent fished it in maybe 4-5 years, yet again try to fish in calm conditions, better to be safe than sorry!

there are loads of rock marks around the coast to try, its just that most stick to the ones they now best and fish regularly, if your gonna try a new one take a mate or two and let someone know where you are heading....just incase :?

Good advice.

Do you know any. And whats balintoy like this time of year

Wed Nov 16, 2005 6:45 pm

from now on ballintoy should throw up coalies and codling on lug or crab baits, mussel may also work, best to fish it when rough though this can be a bit dangerous at times.
layd church may also throw up a few fish out of the rough ground(check shore marks)other rock marks - there are places around fairhead ballycastle may be worth a chuck and the round area at the end of the big breakwater at ballycastle harbour should produce fish as you are going into a fair depth of water.
garron point might produce some codling or dogs or conger?
if you check maps etc then just take time to go around some u like the look of in daylight and go sometime and give em a chuck, you never know what might turn up!
its a guessing game with new marks
if you log in rather than as guest and pm some of the 'local' guys and ask them they might be able to give you a couple.
good luck pookie!
