Co.Clare help needed

hi lads, am goin to stay in clare for a week from this saturday, am stayin in ballyvahan/fanore area.will be getting some fishing done and have done alot of research into the area, fanore beach seems to be more hit than miss, doolin sounds ok as do the bridges of ross, doolin and a couple of the shannon estuary marks. if anyone could pm some info on a mark that is fishing well at the minute and somewere i could buy fresh worms and frozen bait, any help greatly appreciated and will be kept to myself. cheers g

The bay is starting to have a bit of life in it again but you have picked a busy time to arrive. The fanore SAC is having its international week competition at the same time. Call into the post office in Fanore for the venue dates and stay well away from them unless you want to be in a crowd. There is enough coastline so it isnt a problem. Fanore is the best place for frozen bait and any tackle bits you might be stuck for but try to bring whatever you think you will need
Sad to say that nowhere is fishing particularly well and everywhere is hit and miss. The tail of the red tide is still clinging to parts of the West of the county as far as I know.
If you want any worms take a fork, if you get stuck or want any further details give me a shout and I will help you out if I can

2 of us fished blackhead 2 weeks back and had some very good pollock up to 5lb on frozen sandeel and jelly worms any of the marks around the lighthouse should give you some good fish but its very rough ground if your fishing baits on the bottom better of spinning a sandeel or jelly worm

appreciate replys lads. have no intention of fishing the ruff marks round blackhead tightlines but yes baitdigger i will have all the tackle i need plus frozen mack and sandeels in a cool box, were abouts cud i dig rag near ballyvahan? or not that far away. have been looking at marks and there seems to be quite afew. hopefully the red tide will disappear.....

It will be a cold day in hell before you dig any rag in North Clare , you may find a few whites but we dont get kings here. I have heard that there are some sacred places in galway and one possible shannon mark for them but have never spent the time looking. You will get lug as fat as your thumb and I will pm you some spots but I want to check if the worms are dead before I tell you. I dont do worms in the summer so havent dug for a few months. Plenty of joey mackerel for bait at the moment

that is good to hear, a friend dug the castle a few weeks ago with very poor results

cheers baitdigger, will prob not bother with the hassle of getting worms, a load of frozen fish baits will do rightly.. caught afew mackeral a couple of weeks ago so will bring them with me.. hopefully the fishin picks up
