Pollack have a curve on the lateral line
Coalfish have a straight lateral line and a deeper V in the tail

Coalie, judging by the intersect of the eye/jawline.

That's a fine looking coalie well done

to be honest i'd say its a pollock, the lateral line is'nt straight and the bottom jaw is protruding a good bit.
just my opinion

I had some definate pollack during the session about 7-8 to 3lb ,this fish looked and fought different it tore up the beach like a mackeral on steriods covering about 80 yards in seconds, ive had loads of each species over the years i would have said from the fight alone coalfish suppose the visual i.d. Says it all

Either way Seanie Pollock or Coalfish cracker of a fish on plug and you got a great fight out of it fair play

defo a coley. 99.99%
the white lateral line of this fish (dark for pollack) is visible below the third dorsal nearing the tail signifying a coley.
coley are usually much brighter along the flanks and are typically caught along the beaches where pollack wouldnt necessarily be as often, they prefer kelp around rocky outcrops
and the fight sounded like a coley! pollack dive down
nah, 100%

I'd say pollock aswell purely on the lateral line but its not certain as the photo is not best.
