535 is a bit big for standard beach work. 525 will suit both better.

Penn 535

Hi

I use both a SLOSH and Penn 535 - both indestructible. Agree with previous poster in that a 525 mag would be the best option for clean ground, 535 has the capacity required for rough ground fishing where you may have to load 30 lb mono as a main line. This limits casting however quite severely, unless you want to move to braid wihch is another matter.
If you are happy to compromise on your beach fishing in terms of distance then I would go for the 535 as a combination reel but bear in mind it does not have the mag braking unlike the 525 mag etc...

I use the slosh for boat work and so cannot comment on its casting ability but it is a slightly smaller and smoother reel (IMHO) than the 535

you could try a 525 with 20 or 25lb mainline to cover both eventualities??
