Just a quick one , I have two 6500 ct sportsmags and want two give them an oil and wash out but went to remove the side plate and it doesnt release the same as the mag elite .Do you need to completely disassemble it from the handle side or am i missing somethin??? Not urgent as both are running well and have been rinsed after every session .
Thanks in advance lads

I have'nt had one of these for a couple of years but if I remember properly, you take it apart as normal from the left hand side (where the magnets are). When you have loosened off the screws you have to twist the end plate slightly to get it to seperate as the piece holding the magnets is sprung loaded and sits slightly off the plate in relation to the cage when the screws are loosened. Again, if I remember properly its a bit of a bollox to reassemble and takes a bit of practise to put back together as you have to line the screws up slightly off the holes and then twist the plate into place. Sorry if this is a bit vague but its been three or more years since I've had one

Use your phone to take pics everytime you remove something. It makes it easier to find out where the left over parts should have gone when its put back together:smile:
If you get stuck murrays in patrick st will service it for about €6 or €7.

Oops! Told you it was a bollox! The first time I took one apart was on a Friday night having a couple of beer and I remember being quite close to tears when I was putting (trying to put) it back together

Mine was seized closed so I wd40'd the surround and that freed it up and came out and I realised the mag selector was stiff so tried cleaning it ... it goes back together but the spindle doesnt seem like its in right as the spool runs too freely and is rattley and the mag selector is stuck solid .. Im sure its somethin simple im missing but patience has worn thin
