Lads, there is two of us heading to courtmacsherry in two weeks for three days (Monday - Wednesday). We are heading out on a boat Tuesday hoping to get some shark fishing done. We are looking to go beach, rock fishing Monday and wedensday. can someone recommend some good spots for us as neither of us ever fished down here before. also is there any bait shops / suppliers near courthmacsherry to pick up some fresh bait?
we are staying in the courtmacsherry angling centre.
Any info will be so helpful. Thanks.

Mark Gannon will be able to give you all that info as you are going out on his boat on Tuesday.
Some good bass fishing locally even saw them catch bass from the dock where we got off the boat down there last year. If you drive out as far as you can go towards the mouth of the bay and then walk out to the point through the woods noticed a lot of guys fishing there when we were coming back in. I saw one guy catch a bass from the lifeboat slip.
Hope this helps, as you can see I have only fished from boats down there. :D

There are loads of marks down there and it would all depend on what you want to target. There are more people in the forum that can give you more specifics if you would let them know. But all responses would be through PM. Since I am not local there, i get my bait at Halfway angling center, its several minutes drive but the bait quality is very good.

Hope this helps.

Tight lines.

Hi fishyfishy I have been fishing at C'Mac for over 30 years and love the place . Yappo is spot on ie Mark Gannon , Nial O Sullivan ( one of his skippers ) or Mark John ie Mark Gannons son will put you right re bass fishing . If you can afford it I would highly recommend taking one of Marks self drive boats for a day or 1/2 day, you will cover loads of ground this way but be carefull near the rocks on opposite side of C'Mac headland if windy or choppy sea. No bait can be bought in C'Mac though if you have a spade there are plenty of rag and lug available at low water and peeler crabs to be found along the shore . There is a bait shop in Clonakility though haven,t used it in a few years as now bring my own and a portable fridge . Give Mark my regards and I hope to see him in a few weeks .. tight lines and above all enjoy yourselves - that,s what matters most .. Oh call in to the Anchor Bar and meet wee Billy - one hell of a character .. regards John .. Limavady Co derry

PS if you are staying with Mark , head up the main street ( only one ) towards C,Mac Hotel - turn right at the hotel up the lane Hotel appartments should be on your right .. drive all the way up and I mean up to the end . Mark lives in the courtyard and as you enter his place is in front of you to the left - hope this helps ..John .
Almost forgot - if you want to see Mullet in huge numbers go round to the bridge at Timolegue , the bay is full of them but catching them is another story !

Might just have to have a craic at a mullet in the small hope of one. i'm staying with john also so the directions you gave me will be a great help. counting down the days now and hoping the weather gods decide that i need a good turn for once.
the holiday was n jeaopdy a few weeks ago as my dad who i got the present for got shingles but lucky enough he is getting better rapildy. again lads thanks for all info.
