There are several different types of isotopes. They are designed for different jobs. Some are designed to go into floats for night fishing while others are designed for slots in bite indicators.

There are at least two designed for attaching to rod tips, both come with clear sticky tape. One has a strip of clear tape on the outside of the packet and this is wrapped around the rod tip and isotope to secure it. The other, which comes in a black packet has a triangle of clear tape already attached to the isotope. After activating the isotope, place it alongside the rod tip and wrap the clear tape around both to secure it.

There used to be another one that had a plastic clip that you clipped onto the rod tip and then you pushed the isotope into the end of the silicone tube. They weren't the best to use as your line could get caught in them and rip them off. They sometimes flew off during casting as well.

Is an isotope not a little radioactive light that lasts for years ??
A chemical light is the one that you break and shake...lasts for 8-12 hours

yeah if its the 'beta lights' you are talking about these last for years and are best permanently fixed to your rod with a whipping at either end although if your rod gets a knock they can be easily broken and lose their glow.
