rosslare point help please

lads i am thinking of doing a session saturday in to sunday morning and am looking for where on the point is best to fish i know the tides rip through but is this only on the wex harbour side or is it all around the point i will be after bass with lures/bait and hounds plus hoping for my first tope any help would be great

I've only ever fished the very end and the breakwater stones.. From what I've seen the lads after the hounds fish at the breakwater stones. I've only had pups, and I can remember one session off the very point where I had about a million dogs. There is a serious rip at the very point that would only be worth trying at LW or HW slack. I'm guessing weed might still be a problem come the weekend, but you never know.

well i no a few hot spots for pluging, and its the small town before rosslare town its a small harbour with lots of rock just to the right of st helens beach, not sure of the name of the harbour but when you go to st helens beach you will see it, happy fishing

Just a word of warning. The rocks off the end can be pretty dangerous at night. Really serious tides here.

Another piece of useless information if you want to wander away from your rod make sure you slacken the clutch.

I fished it a few years back and while I was down talking to JD the rod took off, a Tope, the only thing to save the blushes was the reel got stuck in the boulders.

The key to fishing the smooth hound on this stretch of beach is having CRAB, I actually find the crabs that have just peeled and are crispy/leathery the best bait, leave all legs on and secure on a pennell.

The point is a good spot for tope and smoothies, but if you find it weedy or the tide running, then in front of Kelly's hotel or at the 'cannon's', alongside The Bay pub can be very good too for the smooth hound.

Best conditions for these spots are a rising tide, preferably in the evening or night, the smooth hound will feed a lot in the 3 hrs up to high water.

Plenty of smooth hound around here for past 6 weeks, they won't stay all summer so best to get down there as quick as you can. (Always the chance of a big tope at the point on a big mackeral bait, get it out as far as you can). Plenty of small Tope around too.

That harbor to the right of st Helans is carne only a few small lobater boats work from here and have only ever caught small flats from it
