3ft Monster!

I bet you all have caught this one but I have to share my experience :D I was fishing The Cut with Bob last week on a rising tide at night. Having caught an almost legal Bass and Bob had caught a coalfish the night was looking good. Well my Imax 6/7 took a massive bend so I grabbed the rod and my reel went screaming out (very low drag). Adjusted the drag and started winding in. Line went out, Line reeled in, line went out, line reeled in. Fantastic stuff! 10 minutes later my monster was on the beach. It was a piece of Kelp :( :( It was the undertow on the beach that was pulling the weed out to sea and the tide was pulling it north. At the risk of sounding stupid (who cares) it was the best fight I've had yet! I really thought I had something and for 10 minutes the adrenaline was going some. At times like this inexperience is great :D :D Oh well back to fishing school

I sincerely hope you released it unharmed! Kelp takes ages to reach that size...

sounds like great fun...

Its like one of Henry Gilbey's episodes with Fishing on the edge, He and Julian Shambrook was fishing and suddenly Henry gets a indication of a bite on his rods, he gets ready and "WHAAM" strikes and begins to reel the fish home, he really puts some effort into it all looks as there is some substance to the fish, when he finally gets a good look at it all you hear is "aahh COME ON!!!!"

When I saw this the first time I was laughing so hard that my wife asked what all the fuss was about, I talked her through it and she replies: Well he CAUGTH a fish! Thats ONE more then what you usually come home with
