Sun Jun 17, 2012 1:04 pm

Hi all, :?:
I am just lookin to know has anyone ever fished on the beach at stroove in donegal, at any time of year, particularly winter? And if so, what species are available and to what tactics, casting ranges etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Ryan.

I see no reason you would'nt get a bass in the right conditions, after all benone and downhill are just across the water. And now when i think on it i remember a few years ago a friend told me they seen a couple of silver fish whilst swimming there, altho at the time i dismissed them as maybe being mullet.

Hi Ryan. Only fished it 3 or 4 times (around october-December). Have had flounder, dab, turbot, rockling and good coalies to about 40 cm. Seemed to fish best on the rise until about an hour into the drop when the fishing died. It's a nice sheltered spot for when the the wind is howling too! Good luck with it.

Does it ever through up any whiting? or is there anywhere else nearby (inishowen) that regularly produces takeable sized whiting?

Have had a few whiting on Inishowen beaches but nothing that you'd be bothered filleting
