LRF Starter price!

Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:00 pm

Ok Daddy's day is nearly here and my youngins are looking for ideas and I'm thinking its a good time to get some new gear!!!!

Rather than buy more beach gear I want to try other styles of fishing an I know I'l enjoy LRF, but how much would it cost to get up and running, also any suggestions on rods and reels would help too.

So if anyone knows whats heeded here is what I need to know..

Rod, what type and price range,
reel, same as above..
Tackle, I know its mostly rubber worms and lures, but what types.

Thanks all.

I picked up a rod and reel during the week .

Savage Gear Bushwacker 8' 10-40g Price 95

Reel Daiwa Sweepfire 3000 Price 27

You can spend as much or as little as you like I found it hard to find any bad feed back about the rod .But the reel i know nothing about just it was cheap.

Hi there
LRF ok?- IMHO you shouldn't go over the reel size 1000- perfect example is the shimano catana 1000 with the front drag-for about 40 yoyos you'll get a very light reel with the spare spool- one for a mono, one for a braid.
The rod. For me LRF is a max up to the 10 grams casting weight-over that you'll go HRF. Why don't try some cheap and very good stuff from Poland? Something like this, maybe- http://www.bass-sklep.pl/en/wedka-mikad ... n-240.html
I bought a very the same rod 10 years ago, meanwhile I have other more expensive rods I'm stiil using this one for my perch and lrf fishing.
|Ok so we have spent 75 yoyos so far.
Now you will need a line , braid and the lures. I realise that in that a very tough times where we live, we should support a local buissness and an Irish market, but there gonna be a Daddy day, and the pocket money of your youngsters will sponsor yours dreams,. So don't drain out them moneyboxes ;)
Try this site then- http://www.fishing-mart.com.pl/sklep/en/index.html
Postage to the Eire will cost you about 25 yoyos for a stuff like rods , jigheads, reels etc.
All the best- david

Thanks for all the reply's lads, I decided to head into Rorys and the Abc today, and between the 2 I got all the LRF gear I need for less than 90 euro...

Now to wait for the weather to pickup and give it a good bash!!

In Rorys I bought a 7ft rod that weighs less than a sheet of paper but its a bit stiff. It cost me 18 euro, perfect for a beginner.
I then headed to the ABC and got the line, weights, soft and hard lures and everything else I need.

Now all I need is a break in the weather and a mark to try... :)
