Its a butterfish ( Pholis gunnellus)

My first thoughts were that it was a shore rockling but on a second look at 03.06am I spotted the black dots on the dorsal fin and removed the post. Whiskey can do strange things to the eyes and brain

yep, deffo a butterfish which is also called a "gunnel" in some places due to it's latin name
