Fished there today.
No luck
There were some other guys, one with a spinning rod, one or two withfeathers for mackerel. As far as I saw landed one mackerel?
Tried everything - berkley sandeels, spoons, done some lure magic and still not even a touch.
Then made some basic paternoster rig and casted it far to the currents with a mackerel strip on a hook (hoped for a dogifish, as my sons are dying to see "a shark"). After about 5 minutes got a take, fish took around metre of line, I set the hook - response was something I never encountered, even when fishing for huchen or catfich -the most powerful run I've ever had. Than, after 10 or 15 metres fish turned to "block of concrete" mode. Tried to move it with all the power of my rod, but... finally broke 20lb braid and it was all over. Then, noticed that I'm a bit stuck on one of the rocks, as the comming tide cut my way back, had to go to the water in normal clothes... really refreshing

Got no idea what kind of fish was it, rather large I'd say.
Than, moved a bit further north, to fish a small penninsula that could be seen north from Rosses point. Found some very, very promissing place - a quite narrow bay with nice rocks and rock platforms on the right, or eastern shore. Fished ther for a while - at high tide, but again, to my disbelief, haven't seens even a small fish.
But, learned some stuff today - tide won't wait till I play the fish.
A very lovelly day, felt like Spain, not Ireland, glad to be out.
