clean ground close = 3 hook flapper
clean ground distance= 2/3 hook loop
rough, broken ground mainly pulley rigs or a long and low
rocky weedy ground pulley rig with rotten bottom

For the beginner that I am, a 2 hook flapper, size 2, with a plain 3 oz weight is just fine.

i think it depends on where you are fishing and for what spiecies.for instance in a deep water berth or clear,rock/weed free beach i would use a sheppey, which is a type of 3 hook flapper all running pulley style, with a kind of a short, long and low bottom snood, which is also excellent for fishing new marks, testing the water like...or a long and low pulley, which is essentially an upside down pulley, great for flatties...for rocks a pulley trace,or pennel pulley each with (or without, depending on the sea bed/how many weights you've lost)

a rotten bottom...although i have a friend who just uses a pennel trace everywhere at all times and has great luck...if needs be i can pm u some of the drawings....

If i had to pick just one rig it would be a 7ft 3 hook(size 1/0) clipped down land most fish on that from the small to the big ones

I always use a 3 hook flapper

clipped pennel rig or 1 up 1 down rig but going to start to give the pulley a try.

Distance: Pennel Pulley rig (up and over for rays)
Close in: Two hook flapper (usually on wire booms to keep snoods apart)
I rarely vary from this apart from an unfortunate daliance with the wishbone craze of last year. It goes down in my book as just a tangle waiting to happen

you only realy need 3 basic rigs
3 hook clipped
2 up 1 down
pulley
these will get you out of most situations
