My mother has bought me one of those Groupon deals for a 3 day break to Balbriggan for my birthday. I will be going some time in June, July or August and will be doing some sort of fishing. I did a few searches and it seems I might be best to just bring a spinning rod and go for the Mullet and maybe a bit of spinning/float for Macks and Pollack. Do you think this would be the best bet or should I be bringing a beachcaster to try for something else. I suppose it would be handy to travel light and not be worrying about keeping bait fresh, but if there are good opportunities for other species of size I would put the effort in and bring a portable fridge, beachcasters, tripod, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!!

If you're hell bent on fishing I'd head to Skerries, it's about 5 miles away. There you'll get beach, Rock adn Pier fishing. Mostly Mackerel & Mullet. The beaches will through up the odd Flounder & Bass, if they're not too weedy, it's a problem that time of year. You could be lucky and get something else but most species are small and hard enough to get.
Otherwise just chill out and enjoy the break!

Beach fishing is crap at the best of times but the rocks at Hampton cove estate are a spot worth trying,it's deepish and onto sand ,but like everywhere in that area is very poor last few years, drive to bottom of estate and you'll see a little sandy bay try the rocks behind that, but a spinning rod mite be ok the odd pollack turns up and macks also a few wrasse on the outer rocks to the left ,good chance of mullet in the harbour ,also the rocks left side of the main beach below the Martello a chance of a seatrout or once in a blue moon a bass, long story short leave the beach gear at home and bring a spinning set up,although you could try laytown /Gormanston beach fresh rag is the key bait lug dosent get touched,if your lucky laytown can throw up a bass or two in the right conditions ,or if it's calm and clear lures work, hope it helps ,or you could just chill out and take it easy and save the browny points and go somewhere good another time
