Testing lures on Bass!

Hea all.

I have been trying to make my own lures and have been playing with ideas for a while but now that I actually decided on a lure to make and test the ban has come into affect.

So heres a question, If im out plugging for bass but have NO HOOKS on the lure, its purely for testing if the bass will hit it am I breaking the bass ban law?

Basically I will be testing them by the hits but wont be able to catch!

It will be intresting to see what people have to say on this one

so the fact that ur target is Bass its breaking the law I'd say. If you've waited this long another few weeks wont hurt to test them out without the worry. You'll enjoy it more.

Before the bashing starts I should have stated its just a question!

I don't have time to go fishing during the day anyway, which Id have to do to see the follows and stuff but its just something I was wondering..... Is using a plug with no hooks classed as fishing..........

Not yet, its a lure with added extra so want to see do they work first.....

imho you are willingly targeting bass with the intention of making them take a bait which goes against the general idea of leaving them unmolested to spawn. By asking the question you already had it in your mind that it was wrong. Whether you hook one or not you are specifically setting out to target them using a rod and line.

You could always test your lure in the local duck pond

I would say wait till you can put hooks on. Simply, because most lures will swim a little different with the hooks on. They effect the weight of the lure as it pitches and rolls. An acid test of the swimming action of the lure will be with the hooks.

On the question, I would think you are legally entitled to test the lure. There's not a court in the land that would think otherwise IMO. The Moral question is a little different though and to be fair we should be able to leave them alone for a month.
