Hi
Im gonna be trying my hand at catching flounder and im going to make my own traces has anybody got any tips on whats the best way to make these traces, i know beads and spools are essential any advice on snood length or what type of mono i should use, size hooks etc would be brilliant.

hook size 2 or 1 mate,clear snoods anything from 10" to 36" depending on tidal run.what you want is movement of the bait.flounder are very inqusitive fish so movement and sound attract them.hope this helps john

A lot depends on the clarity of the water you are going to fish. Sometimes the addition of a floating bead and a few sequins can also help. On hook any of the fine wire hooks are ok, something like kamasan b940 or mustad 34042 or 3261.
Experiment with leads some days rolling leads fish well other days grips.
If there is not a lot of tide twitching the baits and retrieving slowly can bring bonus fish.
