Hi all ,
I'm writing from Germany and will be in your lovely Country from mid may to mid june. I'll be in Burtonport/Keadue and would like to try beach fishing mostly for flatfish. I tried before , but no success .
Read a lot in this forum ,and found some good tips, but I would be very glad if somebody could advice me on possible beaches to start and time of day and tide.
I got a boat as well and could try from the sea as well , but where?
Every tip appreciated , thanks in advance
Cheers Werner

Nearly every beach you fish from will result in some species or other of flatfish. Wexford is good for flounder, the northwest coast for turbot & some stretches of the Cork coast for decent sized dab.

Check out
this link it will give you most of the ports in Ireland so you can check out local tide times. Depending on what you are fishing for bait is very important, fresh makeral, sand eel will produce most native species of flatfish, lug, ragworm, crab work best for bass. Gear wise 4/6/8 oz weights depending on where and when your fishing should be fine, breakaways are probably the best, saves you loosing gear when fishing unfamiliar waters. Hope this helps
