After a couple of poor sessions and seeing what you lads are catching,I am becomming increasingly jealous!
Saying that, I have noticed that a lot of the great fish pics are taken in the dark! Am I missing something, or is it better to fish well into the darkness. This question has probably been done to death, but i'm still learning.
I fish in Mayo and Sligo and it may be that all the fish have been caught!
Thanks for the help lads and of course lasses.

In general fishing does pick up from dusk onwards and into darkness so invest in a headlight! The daylight sessions should be getting better from now on too though so don't give up on them entirely

So is daylight fishing more productive into summer? Is this because the fishing in general is better or because of the species targetted?

Night fishing is generally better because the bigger fish move closer to the shore, they feel safer in the dark.
Fishing during the summer is good because there is more daylight than darkness and there is also allot more species moving in to breed or do what ever they do.

There are more fish about in general so the daylight fishing prospects are better. I do most of my fishing either on the east coast or north Donegal. On the east coast night fishing has always been far better for me whereas in Donegal daylight fishing is usually productive (although night-time is better!). Don't really know why this is (fishing pressure?), it's just a matter of experimenting with your particular marks. Tightlines
