You won't go wrong with a Shakespeare salt set up decent reels and a rod fit for anything
and wont break the bank

well i know that rod your referring to shakespeare alpha!i have a spinning rod in the same series which i think is a grandpiece of kit!Hiro basic is another rod which is quite deccent about the 50-60euro mark and love the rod to bits!very reliable!
happy shopping

I use the Alpha Beachcaster & Reel setup and for the money it cannot be faulted. It does everything I want it to and with a bit of TLC it will last you ages.

thanks everyone for the replies

i think i will go for the shakespeare one at £37. i have a shakespeare mackeral 10ft rod but the reel that came with it was a disaster so i hope the reel on the beachcaster is a bit stronger.

just need to find out where all the fish are hiding and i will be sorted

Pair the surf rod with a penn or shimano reel and itll last years . Nothin nicer than using a smooth well engineered fixed spool reel .
