Bass tips, baits, rigs, methods...........

Hi Lads,

I plan to put some serious effort into catching Bass from the Liffey, Dublin bay area this month ( okay, stop laughing...) and from reading reports on here I know there are a few successful Bass anglers fishing on other parts of our coast.
Can you give me a few tips on tactics for this time of year.
Things I'm thinking about are:
Will plugs work now and if so what types are best?
What end gear is successful using bait ie simple 2 up, 1up 1 down etc?
What bait is best at this time of year?

The only method I'm not up to is fy fishing but any other tips would be very much appreciated.

Cheers
Colm

PS
Other stuff I'd like to get info on is best state of tide and also time of day. Is dusk and dawn really better for hooking a Bass?

funny thing is this. i was talking to john hall a while ago and he was saying how pals of his are catching bass in north dublin all the time, up around skerries certainly looks the part. and i heard to bog bass taken from killiney bay too in the last week r 2

to b honest colum i think the best thing is to match the hatch as it were. I dont believe that bass are all that fussy unles they get preoccupied with somthing like herring fry which they can do at this time of year. but usually they will eat whatever is available. just make sure ur bait is available to them naturally in that area

Try lugs on a paternoster. works for me no beads or any thing just 3/0 or 2/0 Aberdeen with a 6 inch dropper. works on beaches works on tidal estuaries.
