going by the shape of the nose and mouth its a whiting :roll: a lovely speices that can sometimes be caught of our coast :mrgreen: latin name feckus phiranicus :lol:

i thought whiting when i caught it too but the shape of the head is rounder than other ones ive caught before

Yeh Whiting. The Weevers are nasty, evil looking feckers. Their lower jaw protrudes over the top one like theyre out of it on disco biscuits and looking for a scrap!

Anyway, back to topic, I freely added the 'English' bit aiming to try to avoid confusion with various other whiting species from around the globe. Not saying we will encounter any of them here, nevertheless I have seen a few exotic examples cropping up in replies or on a promotional link to an east coast boat hire site just a few days ago. I'm well aware that you are highly familiar with all the finer details, despite being classified here as an 'First Time Angler' :lol: others here may be not and therefore please graciously excuse my addition and change it over to 'Irish' at your leisure :lol: :D
