Im going up to Sligo in the middle of Februrary. I will be staying in a cottage in Easky thats 300yd from the strand.

Ive looked at the shore marks section of the site (easky is on the page about mayo if you're looking on another for it) and and on some other websites. It seems that flounder and doggies are caught on the strand while pollock, coalfish and wrasse can be caught from the pier in the village. The Easky river is supposed to contain sea trout- would I catch any in the estary of the easky river or in any of the other esturaries during February? Also, is Easky beach/pier worth fishing or am I better going somewhere else?
Thanks

What about fishing the pier for pollock, coalfish and wrasse?

wrasse are a summer species,so i doubt you will get them yet...its very rough ground of that pier and its kinda dangerous too....prepare to lose some gear ...

As said above very dangerous , a young lad was swept out by a rogue wave three years back . Ask any of the locals to direct you to the rock mark . Its only a five minute drive from easkey . The river fishes best in august and September . Plenty of beaches up round there too .
