Supermag!

Fri Oct 07, 2005 3:00 pm

Is the 525 supermag the new version of the 525 and what is the difference?

Fri Oct 07, 2005 7:06 pm

better bearings and 6 magnetic brakes instead of 4 on the original 525 mag slidey i believe.runs slightly slower as well as the bearings are soaked in red rocket fuel

What is this red rocket fuel? Is it a type of grease?

its a specialised type of oil for reel bearings, yellow is thinner allowing the reel to run faster, red is a bit slower to allow easier control of the spool during the cast.

What would be a good rod to put along with this reel for rough ground?

depending on how much you want to spend, with mine i use either a century kompressor sport or a conoflex nemesis plus 2002.

they will post it over to you as well if you want as they provide a mail order service, not sure of the price of this but sure worth a call.easy to deal with if you are looking other bits and pieces, they are also greys agents so you could maybe get a rod reel combo - rough ground, apollo m2 or nitra :?: hope this helps

Hands off the Nitra

Been using the nitra with the mag for the best part of the year, no complaints yet. Excellent pole for hauling fish through the rough.

Well im just looking for something that will be easy to use, and I heard that the mag can run fairly slow and is a good start for a novice using a multipler.

the apollo m2 might be easier for you to handle as a novice though the nitra would be fairly similar probably that wee bit pokier though.
