most of the flatties start to move out to deeper water at this time of year to spawn, and start coming back in around april, and it can be a cracking time to fish as these fish are trying to feed up after spawning...but turbot seem to stay out till late may/june..saying that its a localised thing,so some beaches will have loads of flatties on them and others will be barren...and this mild winter is not helping things with the water temps still warm for this time of year...your best bet is to try a few different beaches and see whats being caught, join a club, the lads are quite good at sharing information when they get to meet you, telling you where the best marks for different fish are,the best rigs, and you will pick up LOADS of fishing tips...good turbot beaches are, white strand outside louisburgh, the beach behind the pier in mullaranney, portnacloy, near rossport, and the beach behind blacksod pier outside belmullet...april would still be a bit early for pollock, but thats not to say you wont get the odd one...
