Looking info on tips for caring for multipliers like how do you clean after a trip and care in general.

also tips on casting with them. i was watched it done by guys from forum meets but looking some reading about them

Cheers lads. what should i do when i get new reel does it need oiled or anything. also what is normal after a days fish, with the fixed it was a good rinse under tap what do i do for multipliers cheers

Just the same, good rinse under the tap, most important is a good shake to get any water out of the inside and then a good dab to dry the outside with a paper towel.

Sand is the biggest sinner, if you do get sand inside of any reel, it should be stripped and brushed out before the next outing.

I agree with Rockhopper. Good rinse under the tap and leave to dry overnight. Once every couple of days/week put a touch of oil on bearing (Abu supplies this with new reel) ** if getting an Abu Mag Elite watch out for two wee brown cylinders in the plastic bag. They are the brake blocks and have to be inserted by yourself - or ask the guy behind the counter to fit them. In fact he is probably the best person to learn the basics from.

Get Sean's number from Beachcaster and give him a ring. If it's to do with multipliers then he's your man. He's only down the road in Bangor and he can answer any questions you have and point out all the little details that a video or cd cant. Although they are a fine starting point. The biggest bonus is that he can set the reel up for you. He stripped both of my reels down to their component parts and rebuilt them (properly compared to what I'd try to do) in no time at all.

Some multipliers aren't as straight forward as others to strip and rebuild, the ABU mag controlled reels for starters. Great to cast and fish with but a nightmare to rebuild if you strip it too far. They even frighten tackle dealers! Give him a ring, he'll even show you how to cast them properly if you have any problems.
