im a large and was advised to go xlarge but was only after i wore it out that i realised its just too big, esp in the jacket. and couldnt return it as it was soiled.

i did recently buy a winter suit for freshwater fishing in large, same thing but without the flotation, and it fits much better.

you could always go to a shop that sells them and try one on.

You do need to try them on
the shakespeare one I tried on was xxl and I would have busted it at the seams if I bent over
I got an sunridge sas suit xl which is my size and it's perfect fit with loads of room
so best to try them out

Deffo need to try them on fully clothed, the shops arent going to have hassle with you trying them as they have to be comfortable, Im XL and my flotation is XXL this gives me plenty of room for casting, wearing heavy clothes underneath, getting the thermal wellies on, and bending over to bait up. remember when trying it on to bend and move they way you would when out fishing ;) ALSO NOT ALL Flotation Suites are waterproof check before you buy!.. nothing worse then being nice and warm and soggy on a beach in winter thinking ..I thought this was waterproof!!
