Hey Lads, as most of ya's know I love me flatties, a friend of mine was out fishing in the early hours of yesterday and pulled this fish in, at first glance I though..green dab...BUT when I loaded it on the computer (bigger screen) I couldnt help notice its mouth and Lateral line.. remember I've only this piccie to go on and the size is a little over 10" I have an idea what it is alright but just want a second opinion before I text him

with the good news

Flounder the lateral line on a dab has that distinctive semi circular curve by the pectoral fin!

Yep, Thanks all

Just the lack of mottled colour threw me, also the head shape and mouth are wider then a normal flounder, found out it was taken on a full strip of mack at distance, also on a flounder you have a rough bit on the lateral line.. this is smooth judging from the piccie

Well there was a very interesting article in the Irish Angler all about flatties did you see it? full two page report into the lives of flounders, and seemingly they arent fussy about who they get with... Plaice, Dab, etc. Normal flounders as we all know are mottled in colour this one was dark green without mottling no major roughness along the lateral line either (you know up around the back over the fin) BUt i have reliably informed it tasted gorgous!!
