New to shore fishing and need advice on set up

Hello all.

Im new to shore fishing and as well as the bass went for me this year I feel ill need something abit bigger for those shore cod.My budget is about 200 and im looking for 13ft rod and a fixed spool sealed reel.I was looking at the Sonik sk3 or sk4 but I dont want to scrimp on the reel (which i have no idea what to get) so any help in the right direction would be great.

A set up I was looking at was the greys grx-s 13" and the pen surf blaster 8000.If you would have any thoughts on these .

I just got Shimano Aerlex XSA 7000 (90 yoyos in Morris, Cork) and have no complaints, also m, couple proper fishermen i met yesterday looked at it and said its a good one, first "proper" reel i had so far :)

Thanks guys.I picked up the Grays and the Shimano Aerlex XSA 7000 today.I nearly took the finger off myself trying a pendulum cast .Ill have to put a bit more practice in.

Im delighted with the setup hopefully ill get to Garrets Town or Monks Town during the week to try it out.

Go into the Cast section there as the lads are big into the pendulum casting, I'm an OTG or thumper caster myself (as normally Im fishing with other people around me) but I was watching the lads Pendulum cast recently and they made it look soooo smooth amazing lads!!
