how can i paint on spinners plugs ect.

does anyone know a cheap way to paint with a brush on spinners, plugs, Toby's ect. in a way thats water proof and pretty cheap i would like to use acrylic artist paints as there cheap and easy to work with. I know that they need an undercoat of something and clear top coat. i don't know what or where to get these iv tried without them and had very poor results the paint went mouldy and found it hard to get it to stick to the metal in the first place even though i used no water to cut the paint.
my other options are airbrushes but these are around 150 for the kit without paint and haven't got that. unless i can find one second hand , spray cans are ok but they realy stink and i don't have a shed, enamell paints look good too the ones for model making but the are very expensive as in 6 euro for 10ml at least where i looked you can get a hole set of acrylicc for that

woodies do spray paints which Will do the trick. Get tracing paper and a Stanley blade to mask off and create patterns and you can get a clear spray to seal off . The rustoleum range is what you'll be looking for. Both store's in the city hold this
