Whiting as Bait

Hi Lads, anyone have any opinion on this or is ita waste of time, pin everywhere at the minute and im wondering if i should keep a few for later on in the winter.

never really tried them off the shore but they work well for large turbot in deep waters

tried them a couple of years ago when there seemed to be a plague of them.
Did the classic thing of small hook attaced to big hook hair rig style.
Was not long before rod tip was gisving a little nod to signify a bait fish had attached itself.
Within ten minutes rod pulls round and I struck into a - doggie.
After repeating this half a dozen times I gave up.
Reckon the dogs were just glad to get a chance to snaffle the little buggers.

I started using the ones that got chewed on retrives (small little buggers that the rods wont even pick up, though the wind doesnt help there) so far i caught Whitting on them :roll: , doggies, and a pollock. so give a go :)

Only ever got doggies on them myself.could be just where I was fishing,horses for courses and all that.like to know how you get on!
