On my last visit to Halfway Angling, Dan suggested I try a large rubber fish, with a 6/0 hook. I can't say I was very enthusiastic, but I gave it a go and hooked the biggest pollock I've ever had off the shore. There was no way I could simply lift the fish out of the water and the surge was 5 or 6 metres so I had to let the fish play around until it shed the hook and disappear down, into the depths. My estimate is between 8 & 10 lbs. The same lure took a few smaller fish , to 4 lbs.
Otherwise, my favourite spinner is a Dexter Wedge- takes everything ! Black jelly-worms, with a red-tail ( again at Dan's suggestion ) were lethal and are much friendlier than spinners. In fact any jellies or eels take fish, but anything black has the edge.

Thanks for the comments guys A black Jellyworm is also one of my faves hooked a Pollock about 5-6lbs on one of them a few weeks ago
That sounds like a big shore Pollock might try that technique myself!!

Jelly worm -- black with red tail . Add a strip of mackerel for more positive and immediate takes . Deadly !
If you don't mind whether you catch pollack , macks or coalies ( unsure of depth of water ) , try a Shrimp Rig . It will take any of those . The yellow ones are my favourite but no-one seems to sell them now -- only pink or pale lumimescent but both are still very effective , often when nothing else works . Good luck .

Not through choice ! My left hand isn't very strong ( accident) and I doubt if I would have been able to haul the fish up the rocks !
