reflective tape

Been cleaning up my rods and putting my summer gear away and getting a few rods rebuilt and bought my usual white reflective sheets for my rods and thought i would get peoples ideas and views on how they have refective tape or other tape on their rods
I have always used white/silver reflective tape and cut it up into strips and spirolled it down the tip but with my Century rods coming with it already taped full, so i just add another full strip on another gap down. sorted
My daughter uses Penn Powerstix Pros and they have the full orange tape and for day time bite detection it is very very good compaired to the white spirolled or full on mine, but had to spiral white for night time use.
I cant seem to make my mind up to go all white or spirol or a different colour.
I know a few people use black refective tape but i dont seen the point in it anless your rod is only for night time use.

That black stuff looks very good on the AFAWs nick. As you know they don't have a painted tip so the back matches their finish. And you only need it to reflect at night. :) Having said that I have tape on all my rods but prefer to sit in the dark and use a small snap light.

I had charlottes Penn rods on my stand when I forgot hers and with here orange tips and my reflective ones hers were 110% better to see.
The afaw would look nice with all black but I need something on tip so I can see the fine bites

the supposedly good thing about the eclipse black tape is its better when fishing during the day, when your under the rod looking up at a tip, with white clouds above, the black shows up better, when its dark it makes no difference as the eclipse shines white anyway

im using this stuff at the moment, in white and yellow and its better than anything else ive seen. comes in red too and theres enough on the roll to do a lot of rods. the red or yellow might do the same as the eclipse for day fishing.

Just used the store checker and its showing as in stock in blanchardstown.

I got mine from a truck parts supply place out near fairyhouse.

Some motor factors would have it I guess aswell.

You know the ads that used to be on Dave during Top Gear for Halfords? Well it's nothing like that in their stores. Lazy, unhelpful and down right rude I've found them.

Red told me about the tape last year and I was told the same thing when
I went looking. "Oh we don't do that here". In Swords as she told me this I seen it over her shoulder on a stand. The old spin around type ones. I've also seennit in Coolock branch near the area you get the chrome trims and body stickers. The ones used to pimp young lads hand me down fiats from their mammys.

Anyway I got it in the end and Red was spot on it great stuff. Much better value then the mighty bright stuff in tackle shops.

I thought of that paint also. Have an older pen powerstix surf and a Penn affinity match and both of those come with the glow stuff for bit indetcation on rod

i normally use the mighty bright tape in a spiral wrap - any light on it and it reflects very brightly.

i did meet a guy once who used that paint that they use for the glow in the dark leads (similar to that above from halfords)- when you "charge" it with a lamp or uv light it stays glowing, worked ok but it doesnt last forever on a session so you'd need to have the uv torch with you - can pick them up online quite cheap.

Found one from Halfords in my shed. This is the packaging if anyone wants to try it. I cut it into thiner strips and wrapped it around one at a time on the rod tip. I used a spot of super glue then just to fix the edge of it. Didn't want my line catching in the loose tag ends.

Seeing as I've figured out how to add pics straight from my phone............. I got red and silver (white) and added one bit at a time. I was surprised how bright the red is! It's much cheaper then the mighty bright as bright. I've used both I might add.

solas reflective tape the brightest i,ve found 8) if you are putting any tape on clean the rod first and let it dry cut the size you want and heat the rod and the tape with a hair dryer the tape will be much easier to apply and the adhesive will be twice as sticky also the best way for removing it too.
