hi hunt4the, do they break clear out of the water..? if they do, they are most definitely probably sea trout. there might just be the odd salmon too tho
if they are salmon then forget about it, they will not be feeding along the seashore. if they are seatrout then they can be difficult to catch but a small spinner will work best, or sandeels.
theres a smaller possibility that they could be bass in which case a variety of methods of trying to catch them are open to you... do a bit of research into it.

bass do break out of the water now and again but very rarely
i doubt they are anything else other than one of these three species, but i am not familiar with the fish that are local to your area......... so maybe someone else can clarify. i'll put my money on sea trout
