How to catch them in galway

Hi,
Im a complete amateur sea-fisherman fishing near galway city, the spot i fish is alive with mullet and i have yet to convince one of them to take my bread,
on the rough shoreside of where i fish theres large silver fish(3-4lbs) (definately not mullet) breaking the water every now and then i've tried spinning for them with a silver weaver to no effect, its driving me crazy any chance they are sea bass or do they behave like that...........

hi hunt4the, do they break clear out of the water..? if they do, they are most definitely probably sea trout. there might just be the odd salmon too tho
if they are salmon then forget about it, they will not be feeding along the seashore. if they are seatrout then they can be difficult to catch but a small spinner will work best, or sandeels.
theres a smaller possibility that they could be bass in which case a variety of methods of trying to catch them are open to you... do a bit of research into it. bass do break out of the water now and again but very rarely

i doubt they are anything else other than one of these three species, but i am not familiar with the fish that are local to your area......... so maybe someone else can clarify. i'll put my money on sea trout :)
