Ill be heading down to fish around Bantry next weekend!i was wondering does anyone know if there is a local tackle shop or somewhere to get bait that would be in that area
also(may aswell kill 2 birds with the one stone) im DYING to get out on a few boattrips from cork im not sure how to go about this as a angler going alone and with little boat experience, unless your in a club or charter a boat for 8 or so people.i dont have a car so things arent really in my favour.Cork Harbour is pretty much my as far go and get around easily.should i just ring up a few charters and ask them is there a single spot on a boat?is there any site/charter boats in cork that operate in such a way?
cheers

Well i was hoping to fish the airstrip!just heading up with the father next friday,im not sure what bait is best there or anything about the place for that matter.well id be targeting ray/huss ideally so im assuming mackeral/sandeel for that but id only bring mackeral with me as anything else would thaw out fairly quickly i imagine!ive been there before but never fished it i know its a hard spot to find though.just more of a outing first time fishing with the father so probably 1 rod a piece for a while and when he gets bored ill set up the 2!maybe 1 for flats?any advice would be great on species or tactics!
would you know if any spots are preferrable to another as its a colossal mark
thanks ferg

Enter Paul Harris in the search, runs a guest house on Beara Peninsular also I believe can supply bait, or better still travel down to Baltimore
big Sea angling festival there next weekend 26/27/28th don't need to enter all days. Well organised boat fishing with some superb catches
details on Baltimore website

there is a fish shop in bantry opposite supavaluebut whether thay will have any mackeral is a different storey.
the only place i could get them from last saturday was union hall fish shop
to get to the air field, as you come into bantry take the second left turning opposite the west lodge hotel
follow the road round a few bends then take the first right down to the water.
fish anywhere from the carpark to the poles on the air strip.
you shoul pick up huss doggies and rays all being well using mackeral or sand eel

Mackerel fm Dursey Pier, conger Balleydonegan Beach Allihies (bothe Beara Peninsula) reports of ray suggesting confirmation fm Paul Harris
Mullet in the pool behind the petrol stn at Glengarif.
and from past experience Mackerel fm Doneen Pier (Sheeps Head)
from Toor Pier (mizen) normally 2 hrs befor Ht -2 hr ht in both cases.
Also believe there is a fishing Co-operative in Bearhaven.
Other than that tis Union Hall Cooperative, both fish shops
