Pollock in Waterville County Kerry?

Mon Aug 15, 2011 9:03 pm

Evening,

Im heading back to Waterville County Kerry on the 26th of August for a few days (this time I will be fishing as the family is staying at home :) )

This time around my target species is Pollock, ( in the rod busting bracket  if possible ! ) Anyway Im not looking for specific marks just a general area that might produce some decent fish to the Soft Plastics.

Im only there for 3 days so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Danny.

Danny

I was there last year and found loads of marks all around the area. If you have the car you can head to Valencia island (at the front and also around the lighthouse), Bolus head and the Atlantic side of Ballinskelligs (out past the small pier).

I fished with Dexter wedges and found the Pollock very obliging especially last hour or two of day light.

It can be quite treacherous in a big swell.

Tight lines :D

I had remarkable pollock fishing on around the ring a few years ago at Gleesk pier. If you've never been before don't expect to find a large pier packed with tourists :D . fishing is best off the rocks to the left hand side. Some very nice wrasse to be taken also.

Danny I forgot to mention to you to check out the Waterville angling centre on the main road. They sell a book that takes you through all the local marks (written by a bloke called Kevin that guides and own the shop). If my memory serves me correct it was €10 and is worth every brown cent.

They also sell quality baits.

Best of luck :D
