Advice for Kerry, Kenmore river area

Wed Aug 03, 2011 8:50 am

Hi Folks,
We're coming over for a week 10th September staying in Caherdaniel on the Kenmore river area in Kerry.

IF anyone can point me to a good charter boat and shore marks in the area and any places to get bait....we're flying over so won't have a fork to go digging !

Many thanks
Andy

Its a good hour and a bit to get to waterville from Kenmare, Kevin will have frozen baits but not fresh lug.

I would get his book as it will alot of info on the waterville area for shore marks, also get an OSI map of the area, i think its map 83 or 84 this will help in showing where these marks are.

I see your near Darrynane so its not too far to Waterville.

you are only anout half an hour drive from waterville to Caherdaniel

have a look at this

A day driving to Ballinskelligs to try fishing for big pollock from the shore might be in order. Derrynane beach looks good but mind the weeverfish.

for charter...
I know that they used to set out to skellig from the small pier at the exit to derrynane harbour (well 20 years ago GOD I'm old!) so they might still run charters from there otherwise head to portmagee there are a number of boats going from there.
