Pilmore Strand, East Cork

I can see from the map that the Womenagh river crosses the strand - is it shallow enough to wade across ?

I was thinking of fly fishing for bass there, so any clues on best times would help i.e. high or low tide ?

cheers

At low water it is extremely shallow. At high water it's too deep even with waders. There is access to the western bank but I have never used it. Best time to fish is right on the low water turn, as the bass head upstream. However fish are caught right up to high water. There is a quite a rip in the channel with weed being a big problem once the tide picks up. This may not be a problem for a flybie though.

While I'm familiar with the layout of the estuary the catch information is very much second-hand, gleaned from speaking to locals while I blanked :( .

I hope this helps and good luck.
