Just a simple question I'm buying some snood line for making beach traces for flatties, etc and was wondering on colour preferance, was using clear but i see lots of anglers using black and even red, any opinions welcome.

i honestly dont think it makes a difference justin,,,after all the fish done see the line,,,,,its just what ever they have or line,,,,that stren line is good and see lots of lads using the red line,,,me i use all clear but have used yellow main line on the rig body,,,,,didnt put my catch rate up or down to be honest,,,,,the only thing i like about coloured line is a night its easier to see with your headlight etc

Have confidence in what you're using, myself I only use clear all the time because I feel more confident using it. In clear conditions on sunny days clear fluorocarbon would be my choice. Tubertini Gorilla UC4 Fluorocarbon is a lovely limp snood line and has good strength to weight ratio. Most of the time in Ireland the sea conditions are very murky and Fish wont see line. I think snood lenght and diameter would be more important than colour.

Mainline, I'm not fussed about colour but yellow/red seems to cut down the number of 'birdstrikes' for me. Leader and rig body I always use clear- just as previously stated it is what I am most confident with.
However there is a bit of a question arising from the use of red lines. I was lead to believe that red was the first colour of the spectrum to disappear under water hence making it a good colour for hooklength. If this is the case why do many lures have a red patch on them, ether at the tail end or the head end? and why do firetail jellyworms often out-fish their plain black counterparts??
