Help needed in finding North Dublin mark

Hi All, Long time viewer first time poster, i have fished Arklow for flatties with the kids great fun... but its a long drive for the kids, fished Howths cliffs for mackrel but couldnt take the kids... Im looking for a mark around the North Dublin area that might produce some nice size flat fish or something, that i can take the kids with me ...I love surf casting and have various rods and tackle ... I want to take the kids with me to a safe mark without the fear of being stranded or hit by cars!! is there such a place in North Dublin? somewhere thats possible to access with a car or have the car near by would be heaven... the piers of Howth are to dangerous at present for kids as the mackrel lads are casting ;)

A lot of the north dublin beaches have weed on them at this time of year and it makes them hard to fish, although with this good spell here at the moment it might be okay. You should check the weed watch to see how they are? Dollymount can throw up some nice flounders with a chance of a bass on ragworm or lugworm. The back of the west pier in howth, claremount beach has a few flounders and bass. Portmarnock seems to be devoid of flounders but you'll get smoothounds on a night tide at dusk. Donabate Portrane and rush are much the same you'll have to put in a lot of time for fish.

Paul, Thank you for the reply and advice!! will do! Tried Poolbeg on tuesday and had a great time, very little weed, my son caught his first mackrel on rag, baited and casted the hook himself!! :D I will look at Dollymount and Howth as a venue.. i suppose the norm would apply as far as tides are concerned (in coming tide ect) again Thanks for the advice.
