Shimano Biomaster XSA service port?

Wed Jul 20, 2011 8:27 pm

I'm looking to put some oil into my Biomaster reel but I can't find the service port that is normally on the Shimano reels. Bit of an odd sound coming from the reel but after a good soaking and de-sanding I'm still not happy with it. Has anyone any idea the best way to drop the oil in without taking any bits off?

Better off not putting oil into fixed spool reels it will only liquidise the grease in the reel and ruin its lubricating qualities probably shortening its life. If you can take off the side plate, gears can be greased this way. More than likely greasing wont sort out your problem, something might have got strained causing the noise.

Cheers Paul, would you believe I found the box this morning. Most boxes are dumped ASAP to hide the evidence! Your spot on about putting oil inside the reel. I striped the handle, spool etc. again and washed it out a couple of times. And I oiled only the parts it said to. Seems to be fine now with no scratching noise.

I've copied the instructions and parts diagram in case anyone needs them again in the future.

Fair play for putting that up conor :)

Why do they bother putting the oil port on it then, I like yourself have just been putting oil in the port
