Cheers for the update! Going to give silverstrand a shot this evening.. Hopefully a few fish will be knocking around by that stage.

think the front looked good if the surf and swell is a small bit bigger this evening - no weed there and not too snaggy - seems like the sand has filled in again

Was looking at heading out on Sunday but big waves (8 metres) predicted on magicseaweed and 40 kph winds from SW also predicted. Was looking to find a mark facing east or north, just wondering if I'm mad or has anyone got any recommendations - Mayo preferred but can travel... a bit outside it if its fishing well. PMs welcome. Ta.

Hi Corb

was looking at ballycastle, specifically the rocks north of the stella maris hotel, the only problem being it will be on an incoming tide and the bay fishes best around lw...

Portnacloy is fished out, have tried it several times and only had small flats save me from blanks, not even wrasse or congers.
Lacken is a tackle graveyard, just don't like it. Just one of those things, have always caught fish on it, but just don't like it!
Enniscrone is an option but there is a forecast for 8 metre waves on the western shores so even there they would probably be a bit big?

Anyhow, thanks for the update... might give it a miss and save my brownie points for another day. ;0)

Looking at the long range weather and next Sunday 13th is looking possible. 4 metre tide due in around 7 pm. Wind force 4-5 from North, North West.
Was thinking of trekking out to the Atlantic storm beaches to minimise the impact of all the rain water, anyone been out Carrowniskey or on Keel etc?

keel maybe - carrownskey still too exposed

even keel can have a lot of freshwater onto it - the brakish lake in behind has been bursting its banks - with big rain events

Carrowniskey full of weed, collected by rips, on Sunday 14th august 2016. Don't even try - lots of kelp and messy stuff. Hard to even surf in!

Lacken clean as a whistle today. Loads of flats feeding hard in the deeper gullies...
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

Fishing this morning at Spiddal, full of weed.
My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Good bit of weed on killigalligan and portacloy during week - could fish out beyond the rafts but in close for flounder was tough, only coalies and odd dog around
