Monday 8th poolebeg full of weed, every cast tons of it clinging to line, snoods, and when it get on your leader knot you can only reel in line as far as that and risk gear getting caught on the rocks.Close inshore at the boulders it is full of a brown churnded up mush that resembles what a blocked sewer manhole looks like when your mashing it around with rods to clear :x

Was in Laytown late last night 1am was hoping to do a nice spot of night fishing weather was warm low wind and the moon was nice, first cast in line got carried out by weed from the shockleader knot!!!! (i use a slim beauty knot with a tapered shockleader!!) finished at 1:20am after spending 20 minutes or more taking off the weed from the line... funny thing was it didnt look that weedy!! :x theres gotta be some money to be made in all this weed!!! I mean someone out there needs fertilizer for soil right?!?!? :D ...
Sparkey I hear ya!!! Those crabs got good and fat with me the other night!!! I ran out of elastic so kept the lead weight down without grippers hoping it would bounce around the place but the crabs were quicker :D ... upside when they peel they are ours!!! :D

That carpark in laytown is a disaster, i had a car broken into there 2yrs ago while playing p&p in laytown. Anyway, about the weed watch, fished last evening wed/24 and was a waste of time. Lots of weed on surface lures and shallow divers. Areas fished was between annagassan and port beach and were all very weedy. Try again at the weekend. Again about laytown, anytime i'm playing pitch & putt or fishing, i park by the train station and take the long walk. I know its not ideal, but that carpark is a hotspot for breakins for years now, and with the dark nights on the way, it only gets worse...
Good things come to those who bait.

Lads do what I do, park ur car at the bridge the areas flood little and there is a security man watching the equipment as the railway men are doin up the bridge they start at about 12 at night, ur car is safe as houses park beside the security guards car, just leave the workmen room to access their container and they usually park a van their too, bit of a longer walk but it's worth it, take advantage while we can
