Well mate, i wash my rods and reels under the outside water tap, after a session. I take the spool of the reel and wash both spool and reel. Stick the rods under the tap also and wipe with a facecloth or similar. Clothes and bags etc is another story, to long for me to answer at this moment. :?

ya the clothing can be left for a couple of sessions without doing,,,the other day thou i put washing powder in my mop bucket,,,laid my floatation suit on the ground,,,got a spare hand brush and scrubbed like mad ,,,then i got the garden hose and washed the detergent off,,,its not bad but im going to repeat the process,,,waders, rodbag and box i do with the garden hose too,,,the reels are the most important and do what the lad say with luke warm water, dry the acess water and then leave to dry,,,a few weeks back (this may sound mad) but i took my two rods(halfed) and took the rubbers off both of the bottom sections,,,brought them into the shower and gave them a good clean down with luke warm water,,,,changed the shower head patern till it was at its forcest and flowed the water at the female spigot section and got out all the sand that had been inside,,,,yoju would want too see the amount,,omg

once ive cleaned my reels with warm water and dry them out i usually give all the moving parts a good spray with WD-40. If your reel seems stiff you may need to open it and re-grease it, even if it doesnt seem stiff its still a good idea to do this now and again.

I rinse my reels with warm water and I clean all my rods down with baby wipes! Best thing about having a baby is the constant supply off wipes!

Washing the rod and reel in fresh water is good enough, I always do it, just dry them off after and let them out in a dry area for a few days, do not pack them up if they are still DAMP thats the worst thing to do. Never put any wet ones into a box full of dry gear, rust will spread to everything elce.
