OI heard on the grapevine that there are millions of codling in the southern irish sea and west to cork ,,,is this true and if so are they getting out west in kerry as well ?

Seems to be true, it's all over the angling mags that there seems to be cod/codling about, loads in the 4-10lb mark. It's also all over the Irish Skipper, so I doubt if many will make it anywhere except a trawl or gill net....

The reports I saw seemed to indicate that it was charter skippers who reported the increasing codling numbers. Not being funny here, but my best tip is to book a charter boat so.... :lol:

west kerry had loads more than usual this summer. best codling fishing in 20 yrs of fishing there

could this be a direct result of the trawler restrictions over the last few years or is this cloud cuckoo land thinking.

was talking to a skipper and was told off the coast of waterford there is aload of codling being caught. He reckones we will get a heap of them off the shore this winter
