went out this afternoon, worked rogerstown estuary & malahide. got my first big bass on a fly rod. great fight, then got a few more & some sea trout, one decent size. meant to keep the last one for the table but the little fu(ker wriggled of my hand. On the way home stopped for one in harry byrnes. the one we decided was the best Guinness I'd ever tasted (maybe i was the bass) but one became more than eight, bloody delicious. Drunk now, with an empty fridge wishing i had a sea trout to cook up. but my queston is where is the best pint in Ireland. You'll have to go a long way to get one as good as HB's.
PS Not interested in any cork AH's talking about beamish or murphys. the only competitor to the G is porterhouse Oyster or 4X stout.

Harry's is my local, best pint in Dublin! Not the slop most barmen throw at you in pubs these days.
Nice one re the bass and seatrout, I'd say they give some fight on a fly rod! I'm off for a couple of days next week, might give Malahide estuary a shot on Wednesday/Thursday.

Keozer, what time are we talking about?
On a seperate thought, this time last year there were lots of reports or Redrock in Howth re Bass catches. Have yet to see one.

I've been up at red rock a few times over the past month, but no bass caught. September is THE month though, especially for bigger fish.
There have been plenty of fish (probably sea trout) jumping on calm evenings alright, and I did see one fish jump that was HUGE (we're talking 10 pounds plus easy - I would have been proud of the belly flop it did).
I'll be fishing Redrock and Malahide next week, will post any results.
I know that there have been fish caught in Redrock of late, so if you fancy your chances there are plenty of spots worth trying at dawn or dusk.
